Upside Down Records (UDR) is an 'independent' record label based in Cape Town, South Africa. Founded by Matt Allison in late 2001, a singer/songwriter concerned with sharing his faith by building relationships through music. UDR aims to be a home for artists who have a message of Truth that speaks into the culture at large. There is no timeline for expansion and it will evolve naturally over time on an artist-by-artist basis. As an 'indie' label UDR remains firm in its belief to grow with its artists, nurturing quality art rather than musical trends. UDR releases are distributed in South Africa by Sarepta Music, USA: Independentbands.com, New Zealand: Parachute Music and is looking to grow its distribution network into other territories. UDR's first release was Matt Allison's 'The Same Old Struggles' in April 2001, his sophomore release 'Where this road leads' was released in April '03 nationally and May '03 internationally, followed by the release of 'Tunes to fall awake to' July '04. |
